Correspondence from 1813
Here is access to the correspondence between Ellen Hutchins and Dawson Turner in 1813. The previous post ‘On This Day 13th November’ gives a brief overview and bits of context for the letters in 1813 up to that date.
The correspondence from three full years is now available, 1811 to 1813.

Many individual letters are also accessible in other posts etc via the Ellen’s Letters page of the website. There are ones she wrote to Dawson Turner, to James Townsend Mackay of Trinity College Dublin and those she wrote to her brothers. These are often accompanied by notes giving explanations of words, people, plants and period pieces. There are also links to letters being read, a podcast and a Zoom piece.
There is a target of having transcriptions of all the Hutchins / Turner correspondence, 1807 to 1814, online by 9thFebruary 2025, which will be 210 years after Ellen’s death. We will make the years 1807 to 1810 available one or two at a time as we finish work on them during 2024. A glossary of notes is also being planned.
