Introducing Ellen Hutchins and Bantry Bay

This short (3.5 minute) film provides a lovely introduction to the person, Ellen Hutchins, and the place, Bantry Bay. If you don’t know West Cork or Bantry, this gives you a feel for the place with great images of the seashore there. It shows some of the seaweed specimens (dried plants on paper) that Ellen made over two hundred years ago. You hear two present day botanists speak about Ellen and her amazing achievements, and get a glimpse of the annual Ellen Hutchins Festival.
