Ireland's first Female Botanist

Films

Four short films

The first of these four short films gives a flavour of why Bantry Bay is a special place to study and observe plants, whilst the second gives an insight into the fascinating story of Ellen Hutchins, Ireland’s first female botanist. The third film provides an introduction to lichens, whilst the fourth shows you how to use a hand lens, so you can appreciate the beauty and variety of some of our smallest plants, such as mosses, liverworts and lichens.
These films were made in 2018 with funding from the Fisheries Local Action Group – South and the Heritage Council.
