A beautiful big book, it covers the 17th century to the present day and includes Ellen Hutchins and the festival’s ‘resident’ botanical artist, Shevaun Doherty. Drawn From Nature has wonderful images in it, many shown as full page illustrations, from public and private collections, brought together for the first time in this way. It tells the stories of a wide range of talented Irish botanical artists and the value of their plant portraits in botany. It is lovely to see Ellen taking her rightful place within this, and to read such a range of fascinating people’s stories, so well told, next to each other.
