Where the Wild Flowers Grow
by Leif Bersweden
Over the course of a year, the author, a young and enthusiast botanist, travelled round Britain and Ireland by train and bike visiting botany hotspots. At most places he met with a local expert and he writes engagingly about the botanical treasures he is shown. In November he came to Glengarriff Woods in West Cork where Clare Heardman showed him the wealth of mosses growing there and he weaves this together with Ellen’s story. The book is delightful, with much botanical detail and stories of botanists, botanically rich places and what is happening to protect them.
